Spring, Summer, and Fall hours (April to Mid November). Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - 10 AM to 4:30 PM and Sunday - 1 PM to 4:30 PM and other times by appointment.
Winter Hours (Mid-November through March). Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - 10 AM to 4:30 PM and other times by appointment or chance. Please call ahead in winter to be sure we are here to greet you. The museum is not open when the roads are snow covered.
The L.C. Bates Museum houses unique natural history and culture
collections. The building is listed in the National Register of
Historic Places. The L.C. Bates Museum of Natural History and Culture where visitors can explore natural history and Maine history through self-guided visits. Museum exhibits include Maine natural history, Americana, art, archaeology, minerals and ethnology. The museum and its exhibits and outdoor arboretum provide a window into Maine's history, diverse animal and plant life, and Maine environment.
